MEGADETH Guitarist GLEN DROVER: We're Not Doing This For Money Or For Wrong Reasons

August 10, 2007

ChartAttack.com recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH guitarist Glen Drover. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

On joining MEGADETH with his brother Shawn Drover (drums):

"It was definitely a magical moment, that's for sure. That whole period was definitely a high point in my career for sure. It was a very exciting time to join a band that you grew up listening to and, once I joined the band, starting to get into rehearsals, learning that we all get along, and it works well musically — all these cool things made it that much more exciting."

On his influence on MEGADETH's new album, "United Abominations":

"I think there is a lot of influence that we brought in, me and Shawn in particular, to really kind of revisit and bring back those elements of the older albums as well as keeping with the more current sound that the band has had in the last few years. But I think that's a big part of the band because a lot of people want to hear all that old stuff, you know, that old style — a lot of solos, more ripping music. Albums like 'Peace Sells' and 'So Far, So Good, So What?' are what we grew up with, and for me that's MEGADETH. I love all the albums, but the earlier albums are very special to us and that's definitely the influence we bring to the band."

On his duty as a live performer:

"We all play together very well. It's a great atmosphere because it's genuine. We're not doing it for money, we're not doing it for the wrong reasons. It's because of the love of music of this band and because we respect and get along with each other so well. And that really does come across live, I think. You can't really cheat the fans. They know when it's bullshit or not."
