MEGADETH Mainman DAVE MUSTAINE: 'I Am Not Re-Signing With CAPITOL RECORDS'
November 21, 2005After a great deal of speculation and debate on the official MEGADETH forums, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has shot down reports that the band may be re-signing with their old record company, Capitol Records (the group released seven studio albums on the label between 1986 and 1999).
A MEGADETH fan by the name of "Moonchild" posed the following question on the group's message board: "In the last months since Sanctuary was ditched all Dave's been talking about is what Capitol had with MEGADETH. 'The Arsenal of Megadeth' DVD is being put out by Capitol, if I am not mistaken. So... are there negotions going on?"
Mustaine replied, "No, I said EMI are putting it out. If not, then that's what I meant. I am not re-signing with with Capitol, as far as I know."
As previously reported, Mustaine announced at the conclusion of the band's headlining performance in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 9 that the group's current lineup — which includes bassist James MacDonough, drummer Shawn Drover (EIDOLON) and guitarist Glen Drover (EIDOLON) — will continue to record and tour under the name MEGADETH.
MEGADETH recently completed a South American tour in support of "The System Has Failed", which came out in September 2004. The latest MEGADETH release, "Greatest Hits: Back to the Start" (Capitol),entered the Billboard chart at No. 65 and has sold 109,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
