MEGADETH Mainman Issues Studio Update
May 15, 2009On January 7, MEGADETH commenced the recording process for its twelfth studio album at the band's own Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California. The CD is once again being helmed by acclaimed British producer Andy "Undie" Sneap, who produced MEGADETH's last album, "United Abominations" (May 2007, Roadrunner Records).
Tentatively due in September via Roadrunner, MEGADETH's forthcoming LP will be the group's first with guitarist Chris Broderick, who replaced Glen Drover at the end of 2007.
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine recently contributed music to the new Will Ferrell movie "Land Of The Lost", which is set to hit theaters on June 5. Check out a trailer below.
Commented Mustaine: "Yesterday [Wednesday, May 13] at the studio, we had a visitor from Roadrunner, our A&R man — Mike Gitter. I was at the studio yesterday morning to work on my biography with my co-writer, Joseph Layden, and I hear the doorbell ring just about 9:00 and I open the door and Mike is there. I asked, 'You are here early. What would have happened if I didn't come in early?' and he said that he made it from the traffic being light and the flow going his way.
"We went to get some breakfast and came back to Andy Sneap feverishly working in the studio on the 'Land Of The Lost' music that I provided for the film, and I looked into the control room and saw Will Ferrell going over a cliff first thing in the morning. It was quite surreal.
"But nothing felt as good as when I was in the studio and the first song stopped and Mike hollered, 'YEESSS!!!'
"I knew we were going to have a fun day!"
