MEGADETH Mainman Shares His Aussie And Brit-Rock Faves With Rolling Stone Magazine

June 4, 2007

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine shared his "Top 5" list for the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine (web site). His list is as follows:

01. CROWDED HOUSE"Don't Dream It's Over"

"I hear this wherever I go," says Mustaine of the melancholy love song off the Aussie band's 1986 debut. "I could be having the absolute worst time, but I hear this and it brightens my day."

02. MIKE AND THE MECHANICS"The Living Years"

The GENESIS guitarist's 1989 choir-powered chart-topper brings Mustaine joy. "It was playing in the limousine after I got married," he says. "It reminds me of that wonderful day."

03. THE BEATLES"I Want You (She's So Heavy)"

"Abbey Road"'s darkest cut turned him on to heavy guitar riffs as a kid: "It sums up everything THE BEATLES mean to me."

04. LED ZEPPELIN"The Song Remains the Same"

The frontman picked up some tips from the "Houses of the Holy" headbanger: "The British Invasion has been very informative in my approach to the guitar."

05. AC/DC"Let There Be Rock"

He scored the 1977 classic at a record-store swap. "As soon as the needle hit the record," he says, "I thought my life had changed forever."
