MEGADETH Mainman Working On New Music

September 30, 2005

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"I got an email from my pal Megannie about a misquote in some media reporting in South America. The journalist said that I told him, 'This will be the last concert ever in Chile.' Well that's not true.

"Although it may be the last concert in Chile ever as MEGADETH, I NEVER SAID THAT. I intend on making my announcement in Argentina and that, to me, seems like an indication of my plans. And, if I do retire the Mighty Megs, I still am going to play on! And either way, I am finally going to get my live record in Argentina. I have some great songs chosen especially for this very intimate night. I am going to sing one song acoustically and change the words, and play another that I have never played yet, and will prolly never play again.

"Please know that whilst things are oscillating here until the 9th of next month, I have been working on my new music, and signing an enormo-box of photos for the fan club. I will have that sent to our beloved webmaster as soon as my arm stops throbbing.

"Lastly, Pam [wife] and I just returned from a very special trip out to Dorr, Michigan, where I initially bought Cassandra (my horse that passed away last year),and got my new horse Matsje from the Friesian Connection. Matsje was a very special horse that Bob DeBoer the owner of the FC and my new partner in these horses was kind enough to sell me after Cassie died and believe it or not, she was an even better horse. Well, she had been rated a 'provisional model' mare, which means she was considered a perfect specimen of the breed, but that she needed one 1/2 point more to make model, due to incomplete testing over in the Netherlands where she came from.

"The test took place on the 28th, and I prayed the whole time she was in the ring and my heart was pounding as she was ridden in dressage style for almost ten minutes (not including the five minute warm-up). This is a very long and abnormal amount of time for a horse to test, let alone Matsje has only been under saddle for a very short time; she was a cart horse.

"So she was covered in sweat and snorting and every sound could spook her and she could lose the test and lose her provisional model standing. Some guy answers his phone and was bellowing into it, and I knew I was going to have to sacrifice him if he caused her to stumble. Tick, TiCk, TICK, . . .

"She wins!!! And I'm congratulated by everyone. Pam is freaking! Please let me make this clear, I can't believe it, but thanks to you, and I mean this, thanks to you and your loving support of me and my family, and belief in my music I am now the proud owner of one of the very few model friesian mares in North America.

"Now all I have to do is go to Holland in January to the stallion Keuring and watch this event to make my experience complete. I look forward to meeting all of my Dutch Droogies and spending time with you if you want to visit at the airport or the Keuring. And you wonder why I want to be with you and thank you personally so much?

"God, what a wonderful way of life you have allowed us to have. I can't wait to put this feeling into a new riff. Hell, I may just do that right now to wake up the house."
