MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Checks In From The Road

February 14, 2009

The "Priest Feast" tour featuring JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH and TESTAMENT kicked off Tuesday night (February 10) in Dublin, Ireland.

MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following update:

"Well, we are back on English soil, and our British tour manager got out of the bus yesterday morning and kissed the ground, and I asked him if he did, and he said, 'It's been eight years since I have been on English soil.' I thought that was killer, except it was snowing and he had to stick his face into the slushy street slop to kiss the ground. I remember seeing the Pope do that once and I thought surely that has gotta burn, when he kissed the tarmac on an airstrip in a trip over to the states many years ago.

"Anyway, Chris [Broderick, MEGADETH guitarist] and I were at dinner last night and we finally saw one of the JUDAS PRIEST guys, but he was with his family, maybe siblings or friends, and we decided not to bother him. So we just sat and eat red meat, and talked about guitars!"

On January 7, MEGADETH commenced the recording process for its twelfth studio album at the band's own Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California. The CD is once again being helmed by acclaimed British producer Andy "Undie" Sneap, who produced MEGADETH's last album, "United Abominations" (May 2007, Roadrunner Records).

Tentatively due later this year via Roadrunner Records, MEGADETH's forthcoming LP will be the group's first with guitarist Chris Broderick, who replaced Glen Drover at the end of 2007.

U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine has uploaded a podcast featuring an audio interview with Dave Mustaine. Dave talks about the recording of MEGADETH's new album; the "Priest Feast" tour; the state of the metal scene; and other topics.

You can download the podcast as an MP3 audio file at this location. (Note: The Mustaine interview begins around the 24-minute mark.)
