MEGADETH's MUSTAINE Parts Ways With SANCTUARY RECORDS
July 15, 2005MEGADETH founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has officially parted ways with Sanctuary Records. The legendary, multi-platinum group released three albums on Sanctuary, including 2004's critically acclaimed "The System Has Failed", which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart. The latest MEGADETH release, "Greatest Hits: Back to the Start" (Capitol),entered the Billboard chart at No. 65 and has sold 28,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. On the concert front, MEGADETH are performing this summer on the inaugural Gigantour package tour with DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY and others. The six-week festival trek — with the fan-friendly ticket price of approximately $35 each — is the brainchild of Mustaine, who hand-picked the bands for Gigantour, with a focus on musicianship.
