MEGADETH's Recording Schedule Forces SABBAT's HAMMERFEST Cancellation
March 18, 2009Reactivated British thrashers SABBAT have cancelled their appearance at the Hammerfest 2009 festival, set to take place April 24-25 at at Pontins, Prestatyn Sands, North Wales. The decision to call off the show was made as a result of guitarist Andy "Undie" Sneap's "schedule being moved forward producing the new MEGADETH album in California," according to a statement released by SABBAT. "He now returns to San Diego on April 10 to begin the final month of tracking, returning to the U.K. to mix for June deadline." Sneap states, "Apologies for this, but the day job has to come first."
Tentatively due on September 1 via Roadrunner Records, MEGADETH's forthcoming LP will be the group's first with guitarist Chris Broderick, who replaced Glen Drover at the end of 2007.
The recording process for MEGADETH's twelfth studio album began on January 7 at the band's own Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California.
Sneap produced MEGADETH's last album, "United Abominations", which came out in May 2007 via Roadrunner.
