MEGADETH To Perform New Song 'Headcrusher' On 'Canadian Carnage' Tour

June 18, 2009

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has recorded a new audio message for TheLiveLine, a service he launched that enables musicians to connect to their audience over the phone. He said, "I'm on my way home from rehearsal right now. It's going pretty good. We've got our dozen songs that we're gonna be playing for the 'Canadian Carnage' dates [with SLAYER, MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE]. Those dates are supposed to be 60 minutes long for both us and SLAYER, so we're gonna have about 12 songs we're gonna be playing. We've cut back a lot of the songs that we've been playing over the years down to just the ones that are probably a little bit more of the fan favorites and not the stuff that's been on the radio. And we've actually been trying to playing 'Rattlehead' [off 1985's 'Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!'] too, which has been fun. And we have been playing 'Headcrusher' [off the forthcoming 'Endgame' album], so we intend on playing that live for everybody up there in Canada."

About TheLiveLine: In the spring of 2008, Dave Mustaine and friend Scott Holmen approached the founders and president of SmartReply, Inc. with Dave's concept of using their technology to engage fans and artists. This innovative platform would serve as a way for fans to let the artists know what they are up to and for artists to keep fans informed of what is going on in their world.

In the summer of 2008 a Beta version of TheLiveLine.com was released and it was a smashing success. Fans and artists engaged in communication via mobile phone (voice and text messaging) and the TheLiveLine web site, which gave them exactly what they were looking for — up-to-the-minute information from each other.

MEGADETH's twelfth studio album, "Endgame", is tentatively due in September through Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at the band's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

"Endgame" is being helmed by Mustaine and acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD). Sneap also manned the boards for 2007's "United Abominations". Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Headcrusher", "1,320", "How the Story Ends" and "This Day We Fight!"
