MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Names His Top Three Vinyl Albums

February 5, 2019

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine was asked by College Radio News Network to name his top three vinyl albums of all time. He said (hear audio below): "If I was forced to pick my top three vinyl albums, I would probably pick some old classics, because of the tonality of the instruments back then and a lot of the analog amplifiers, as well as the analog consoles and analog recording devices. Same thing with the analog microphones. So, probably 'The White Album' from THE BEATLES. Probably 'Wish You Were Here' from PINK FLOYD, or 'The Dark Side Of The Moon', which is another great album for sounds like that. And most definitely, because it's very personal to me, AC/DC 'Let There Be Rock'. And, like I said, to me, all of the analog equipment and the chain, the series of all of the parts, as much analog as possible, to me, had a really warm sound. And, of course, you needed to have a great stereo and playback system to make it all come together. But if you were that critical about all those parts in the series, then you already had a great-sounding stereo."

On March 22, MEGADETH will celebrate its 35th anniversary with the release of "Warheads On Foreheads", a 35-track career retrospective. The anthology spans the band's entire studio recording career, from its first album "Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good" to its 2016 Grammy Award-winning release "Dystopia", and will be available as a 3-CD set, a 4-LP set and a digital edition via UMe Recordings. A limited-edition, four-LP set pressed on silver colored vinyl will be available exclusively through the band's online store. Visit this location for details.

MEGADETH is working on the follow-up to 2016's "Dystopia" album for a tentative summer/fall release. The LP will be MEGADETH's first to feature drummer Dirk Verbeuren (ex-SOILWORK),who joined the group nearly three years ago.

On the touring front, MEGADETH will support OZZY OSBOURNE on the next North American leg of the BLACK SABBATH singer's "No More Tours 2" in May, June and July. This will be followed by MEGADETH first-ever Megacruise aboard the Norwegian Jewel, which will set sail on October 13 from Los Angeles, California and hit ports of San Diego, California and Ensenada, Mexico before returning on October 18.
