MELDRUM: Hollywood Show Cancelled

January 14, 2008

MELDRUM, the Swedish/American band led by former PHANTOM BLUE guitarist Michelle Meldrum (wife of EUROPE axeman John Norum),has issued the following update:

"We regret to inform that MELDRUM has been forced to cancel its scheduled concert at the Whisky in Hollywood, California on January 17, as U.S. immigration officials have denied one of the members' request for visa.

"MELDRUM would like to apologize to their fans that they won't be able to perform their scheduled concert, but it is out of their control. However, Michelle Meldrum and Gene Hoglan [drums] will still appear at NAMM on January 18 and January 19.

"Thanks for your understanding about the show and they will make it up to you!!!

"MELDRUM is also in the studio completing the follow-up to their CD 'Blowin' Up The Machine' [2007], due out fall 2008."

MELDRUM's sophomore album, "Blowin' Up The Machine" was released in Europe in May 2007 on Frontiers Records (it came out in the U.S. last month). MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister makes a guest appearance on the track "Miss Me When I'm Gone", for which he wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the music. In addition, Gene Hoglan (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TESTAMENT, DEATH, DARK ANGEL) can be heard on four songs, while guitarist Michelle Meldrum's former PHANTOM BLUE bandmate Linda McDonald was responsible for laying down the drum tracks on the rest of the CD.

Hoglan previously played with Meldrum in the '80s thrash outfit WARGOD.
