Locomotive Records has set a September 11, 2007 North American release date for the sophomore album from MELDRUM, the Swedish/American band led by former PHANTOM BLUE guitarist Michelle Meldrum (wife of EUROPE axeman John Norum). Entitled "Blowin' Up the Machine", the CD was issued in Europe last month on Frontiers Records. MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister makes a guest appearance on the track "Miss Me When I'm Gone", for which he wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the music. In addition, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD/ex-DARK ANGEL drummer Gene Hoglan can be heard on four songs, while Meldrum's former PHANTOM BLUE bandmate Linda McDonald was responsible for laying down the drum tracks on the rest of the CD.
MELDRUM's video for the song "Purge" can be viewed below. The clip was shot in Southern California and features a special guest appearance by Gene Hoglan.
Gene Hoglan previously played with Meldrum in the '80s thrash outfit WARGOD.
MELDRUM released its debut album, "Loaded Mental Cannon", in 2001 via Record Heaven.
