MEMFIS Honored With 'Rookies Of The Year' Award
December 5, 2006Swedish progressive metal band MEMFIS has been honored with the "Rookies of the Year" award by Sweden's rock radio station P4 Dist. The group's prize package includes a slot at next year's Sweden Rock festival, set to take place June 6-9, 2007 in Sölvesborg, Sweden.
As previously reported, MEMFIS has posted its video for the song "The Wind-Up" at this location. The track is the title cut of the band's debut CD, which recently entered the Swedish album chart at position No. 20.
MEMFIS was founded in the spring 2003 in Kristinehamn, Sweden. Two demos were recorded in 2004 and resulted in top-rated reviews and a co-operation with Dental Records.
In a recent interview, Swedish producer/multi-instrumentlist Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH, PAN THY MONIUM) praised MEMFIS as a "really, really good band" that "must be checked out by fans of OPETH and similar."
