MEMFIS: Legal Issues Resolved, New Album Coming Soon
October 2, 2010Swedish progressive metal band MEMFIS has finally worked out its legal issues with Dental Records (which released the group's 2006 debut, "The Wind-Up") and is planning to release a new CD in the not-too-distant future on an as-yet-undisclosed new label.
MEMFIS' follow-up to "The Wind-Up" was recorded at Bohus Sound Studios (ABBA, STATUS QUO, ESBJÖRN SVENSSON TRIO, MUSTASCH) in Kungälv, Sweden. Engineered and produced by Fredrik Reinedahl (BURST, GADGET, CROWPATH, OPETH) and mastered by Dragan Tanaskovic, the CD consists of 12 tracks and "shows on a matured and more developed sound," according to the band.
Three songs from the forthcoming album — "In Chase Of Death", "Serpent" and "Vertigo" - are available for streaming on the MEMFISMySpace page.
MEMFIS' debut CD, "The Wind-Up", entered the Swedish album chart at position No. 20.
MEMFIS was founded in the spring 2003 in Kristinehamn, Sweden. Two demos were recorded in 2004 and resulted in top-rated reviews and a co-operation with Dental Records.
In a 2006 interview, Swedish producer/multi-instrumentlist Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH, PAN THY MONIUM) praised MEMFIS as a "really, really good band" that "must be checked out by fans of OPETH and similar."
