MERCENARY Guitarist Comments On Upcoming WACKEN OPEN AIR Appearance

February 7, 2008

Guitarist Jakob Mølbjerg of the Danish metal act MERCENARY has commented on the band's upcoming appearance at the legendary metal festival Wacken Open Air, which will be held from July 31 to August 2, 2008 in Wacken, Germany.

"It's a privilege for MERCENARY to be able to return to Wacken this year," said Jakob. "Playing there in 2005 was a great experience and we're certain that the festival will be a blast again this year, especially because of the amazing bill so far! Of course we're also looking immensely forward to bringing the songs from our coming album out to the hordes of German metallers!"

MERCENARY recently posted a video report from the recording sessions for the group's new album, "Architect of Lies". Watch the five-minute clip below.

To coincide with the release of their highly anticipated new album "Architect of Lies", Danish metallers MERCENARY have been confirmed as the opening band for MEGADETH on select European dates in February/March.

Commented < Mølbjerg: "Hell yeah! What better way to kick off 2008 and preparing for our new album release than getting out on the road with the almighty MEGADETH? What a blast! We will be playing five shows with the godfathers of thrash during February and March, and four of the shows are even as direct support. This is an immense honor for us and a dream come true, as MEGADETH has always been a great source of inspiration, as well as one of the main reasons I ever picked up a guitar in the first place. So check the new tour dates and prepare to 'Embrace the Nothing', the new track on our MySpace profile. See you all out there on the Killing Roads!"

MERCENARY has issued a casting call for extras for a music video shoot for the first single off the group's new album, "Architect of Lies". The filming will take place between February 11 and February 18.

Mølbjerg recently stated about the group's upcoming CD, "As we went straight into the studio with our masterly producer Jacob Hansen right after the last gig, we couldn't help but to bring along a lot of the immediacy and groove that we love when playing live. The result is in many ways our most spontaneous album ever, but I also believe it's our strongest yet — it's very melodic, catchy, dark and complex (just like any decent metalhead would — or should — want his metal to be.). With bass player / shouter Rene Pedersen recording his first album with us, this album marks the return of some really aggressive vocals — mixed, of course, with Mikkel's soaring clean singing. It's an album that's straight to the point I think, and I can't help but feel we're at the top of our game here. I never had a stronger belief in the potential of this band before."
