MERCYFUL FATE, MEMORY GARDEN Axe-Slingers To Guest On EDGE OF SANITY CD

July 21, 2003

Guitarists Mike Wead (MERCYFUL FATE, KING DIAMOND, FIREGOD) and Simon Johansson (MEMORY GARDEN, ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA, FIREGOD) have been tapped by reformed Swedish metal act EDGE OF SANITY to play lead guitar on the group's comeback release, "Crimson II", due later this summer through Black Mark Records.

"This is the first EDGE OF SANITY album with [vocalist] Dan Swanö since 'Infernal', which surfaced in 1997, and I'm really thrilled that Dan asked me to do this, it's a big honor for me," said Johansson.

"I recorded my leads today and I'm really happy with the result. Tomorrow Mike Wead will do his leads and after that it's time for the final mix and I'm pretty sure it all will turn out great."

As previously reported, Wead and Johansson have teamed up with longtime friends Snowy Shaw (KING DIAMOND, DREAM EVIL, NOTRE DAME) and Sharlee D'Angelo (MERCYFUL FATE, ARCH ENEMY, WITCHERY) in a brand new band called FIREGOD. A singer for the project has yet to be announced. The band expect to record a full-length album later in the year for a tentative early 2004 release.
