METALLICA, ALICE IN CHAINS Members To Perform At MUSICARES MAP FUND Benefit Concert
April 13, 2006In addition to receiving the prestigious Stevie Ray Vaughan Award, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield, along with the band's bassist, Robert Trujillo, will be performing with ALICE IN CHAINS' Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney at the second annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert, to be held Friday, May 12 at The Music Box in Hollywood, CA. BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB will open the show and the evening will include a performance from JASON MRAZ. Jim Breuer will be on hand to present James with the award while Margaret Cho will present the night's other honoree, Bill Silva, with the From the Heart Award. Hetfield will be honored as the recipient of the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his dedication and support of the MusiCares MAP Fund and his devotion to helping other addicts with recovery process. Bill Silva will be the recipient of the MusiCares Heart Award for his unconditional friendship and dedication to the mission and goals of the organization. The evening will feature a buffet dinner and performances by a range of special musical guests.

METALLICA are currently writing music for their ninth studio album, which they plan to record this summer/fall with producer Rick Rubin. An early 2007 release is likely. The group will play some European and Japanese gigs this summer. No U.S. shows are planned.
