METALLICA Averts Crew Meltdown In New York

July 14, 2003

An undisclosed crew-related "emergency" nearly caused the cancellation of METALLICA's performance at New Jersey's Giants Stadium last Tuesday (July 8),according to Launch. The exact details of the crisis in the band's crew have not been made public, but the meltdown was apparently serious enough that an emergency meeting had to be called to resolve it before the day's show.

"Once in a while, you know, the system fails a little bit, like for instance the other day, on Tuesday, where it's like all of the sudden this emergency came up on our crew, and we weren't even sure that the show in New York (New Jersey),if it was really possible to even go on with it because of what was going on with our crew," METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told Launch. "And we had to take two hours to deal with the situation all of a sudden. You try and do the most you can all the time."

The situation was eventually cleared up and the Summer Sanitarium Tour — which also includes LINKIN PARK, LIMP BIZKIT, DEFTONES and MUDVAYNE — hit Atlanta on Friday (July 11),Philadelphia on Saturday (July 12),and Orlando on Sunday (July 13).
