METALLICA Confirms Participation In Marin History Museum's Benefit Concert

July 16, 2009

METALLICA has issued the following update:

"We have made Marin County in Northern California our home for many years, so we were more than honored when the Marin History Museum asked us to participate in their benefit concert as they prepare to launch the exhibit 'Marin Rocks'.

"That's right, finally, a show in our own back yards... something that has NEVER happened! So we're hoping you can join us at the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium on Friday, September 11 as we rock the 2,000-seat auditorium before heading back out in North America on the 'World Magnetic' tour.

"Tickets go on sale on Saturday, August 1 at 10 a.m. (PDT) through Ticketmaster.com or on Monday, August 3 at the Marin Center box office, online at marinhistory.org, or by phone at 415-499-6800. Prices for tickets start at $100.00. Met Clubbers, your pre-sale begins on Thursday, July 30 at 10 a.m. (PDT). Please see metclub.com for all the details.

"All proceeds from the show will be donated to the Museum's new exhibition that will celebrate our music community with displays and educational programs. Check out www.marinhistory.org for more info."

METALLICA's participation in the Marin History Museum's benefit concert was made by frontman James Hetfield in a video screened at a museum gala last month for the "Marin Rocks" exhibition, where attendees paid $200 a ticket to raise funds for the project. The museum pulled the project from its original intended location in a downtown space owned by the local Masonic Lodge, citing concerns over the cost of renovating the space, its size, and the length of the lease that the Lodge was offering.

Museum executive director Merry Alberigi said, "METALLICA very much supports the 'Marin Rocks' project, and especially the educational programs to be offered for our youth. They have kids in school here in Marin County and they want to give back."
