METALLICA Documentary Filmmaker To Spend Week On Colgate Campus

October 17, 2005

According to Colgate University News, Joe Berlinger, director of METALLICA's "Some Kind of Monster" documentary, will serve as distinguished filmmaker in residence at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY between October 23 and October 28.

During his visit, the award-winning documentary filmmaker will participate in master classes, screen a retrospective of his film and television projects, read excerpts of his book "Metallica: This Monster Lives", and discuss his first literary undertaking.

The following METALLICA-related events are free and open to the public. They will be held in Golden Auditorium of Colgate's Little Hall:

* Oct. 26, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Reading from "Metallica: This Monster Lives"
* Oct. 28, 7 p.m.: Screening of "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster" followed by reception

Berlinger's visit is being coordinated by the university's film and media studies (FMST) program and ART MIX 05-06, a Colgate initiative funding special projects in the arts.

Created in 2004, the FMST minor concentration enables students to engage in a critical study of film and visual mass media. It also provides students with a means of critically examining how film and visual mass media serve as powerful determinants of ideology, identity, and historical consciousness.
