September 8, 2011According to Jazz Journal, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich will be interviewed about his love of jazz on the September 20 edition of the "Jamie Cullum" show on BBC Radio 2. Ulrich discusses his father's influence as a jazz musician, and the impact jazz artists in his home had on his future works.
The "Jamie Cullum" show airs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. U.K. time on BBC Radio 2, 88-91 FM, online, on digital.
Ulrich's father Torben played New Orleans jazz clarinet on the Danish scene in Copenhagen in the 1950s, connecting with Stan Getz and Dexter Gordon. Gordon was Lars's godfather.
Jamie told NewsOnNews.net, "Long before I was into jazz, I was a fan of heavy metal music. METALLICA are one band that really did it for me in my early days. I've always been interested in the technical mastery it took to play both jazz and heavy metal. When I discovered Lars Ulrich, one of the founder members of METALLICA, is into his jazz, I had to get him onto my Radio 2 show."
