METALLICA Drummer To Guest On Tomorrow's 'The Howard Stern Show'
September 12, 2011METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich will guest on tomorrow morning's (Tuesday, September 13) edition of "The Howard Stern Show" on SiriusXM satellite radio.
As previously reported, METALLICA and Lou Reed will be among the guests on the BBC television series "Later...With Jools Holland" when it returns with a new series of shows this fall, according to Music Week. There's no date specified for when Reed and the band will appear, but they will perform music from their collaborative album, "Lulu", which arrives worldwide on October 31 and in North America on November 1.
There's no word yet on whether METALLICA and Reed will perform together on any U.S. TV shows or tour behind the record.
Reed first suggested that he and METALLICA make an album after they performed together at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25th anniversary shows in New York City in October 2009.
While the set was first conceived as a re-recorded collection of Reed's older material, it soon changed into a plan to record a series of songs that Reed had composed for a theater piece based on "The Lulu Plays", written between 1895 and 1904 by German playwright Frank Wedekind.
METALLICA frontman James Hetfield said, "We were very interested in working with Lou. I had these giant question marks: What's it going to be like? What's going to happen? So it was great when he sent us the lyrics for the 'Lulu' body of work. It was something we could sink our teeth into."
Reed added, "We played together, and I knew it: dream come true. This is the best thing I ever did. And I did it with the best group I could possibly find."
