METALLICA, EXODUS, SLAYER: Rare Early '80s Photos Posted Online

Brian Lew, former co-editor/founder of the early '80s underground fanzine Whiplash, has posted a number of rare photos covering the early days of the San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal scene. Included in the gallery are pictures of such acts as METALLICA, EXODUS, SLAYER and MEGADETH. Check them out at this location.

Sam Kress, the original vocalist of acclaimed San Francisco Bay Area thrashers HEATHEN and former co-editor of Whiplash, passed away in December 2006. Lew's comments on Kress' passing can be found at this location.
