METALLICA Frontman Interviewed On Polish TV

June 24, 2010

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield was interviewed on Poland's "Dzien Dobry" program (which airs on the TVN channel) when the band played the Sonisphere festival in Warsaw on June 16, 2010. You can watch the chat below.

METALLICA was joined onstage Tuesday night (June 22) in Sofia, Bulgaria by members of MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX for a performance of the DIAMOND HEAD song "Am I Evil?" The jam took place during a "Big Four" concert by the quartet of veteran thrash metal bands that was broadcast later that day to hundreds of movie theatres in the U.S. and around the world.

Hetfield, MEGADETH singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine and ANTHRAX vocalist Joey Belladonna took turns singing the song, which has been a part of METALLICA's live set for decades. The event marked the first time that Dave Mustaine had performed onstage with METALLICA since April 9, 1983. An early member of the band, he was fired just weeks before METALLICA recorded its debut album, "Kill 'Em All".

Mustaine, who was replaced by Kirk Hammett, went on to form MEGADETH and achieve worldwide success on his own.

He still harbored a grudge against METALLICA, however, with some of his feelings coming out in an intense scene with drummer Lars Ulrich in the 2005 documentary "Some Kind Of Monster".

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian tweeted after Tuesday night's show, "After 29 years of doing this to reach this apex is just so cool. It was a monumental moment of epic proportions."

The show was also filmed for an upcoming "Big Four" DVD, although more details on that have yet to be confirmed.

The concert will be rebroadcast in movie theatres on Thursday (June 24).

The "Big Four" package has been making its way across Europe since June 16, but so far no U.S. dates have been announced. The shows represent the first time the four bands have all shared the same stage.
