Live Nation GSA COO & MD Matt Schwarz told Pollstar: "We are more than happy with the 15 sold-out shows total in GSA, nine arenas and six stadiums with a total attendance of 486,130. The unique 360-degree in-the-round production in the arenas set venue attendance records, and the band produced a mind-blowing experience in this special configuration with a stunning production. Fortunately, we did not have any major weather issues on the outdoor leg; METALLICA fans left the stadiums with a smile on their faces rain or shine."
The spring/summer 2019 leg of METALLICA's European tour commenced on May 1 at Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon, Portugal and included 25 dates across the continent, closing at Mannheim, Germany's Maimarktgelände on August 25. The trek visited 20 countries in total, with stop in cities METALLICA didn't play on part one of the European "WorldWired" leg, which was an indoor arena tour.
Five of the six European stadium concerts METALLICA performed in May grossed a combined $28 million thanks to an average attendance of more than 58,000.
Twenty-one of the shows on the 2019 North American leg of "WorldWired" grossed a total of $41.7 million, good for an average per-show gross of $1.99 million. With an average attendance of more than 16,000, the band moved nearly 350,000 tickets altogether.
