METALLICA Members Don't See Eye-To-Eye On Hobbies

September 16, 2004

The METALLICA documentary "Some Kind of Monster" revealed drummer Lars Ulrich's fondness for art — much to the displeasure of band co-founder James Hetfield. Hetfield told Launch Radio Networks that he doesn't like Ulrich parading his hobby in public, although he admitted that Ulrich feels the same way about his love for hot rods and motorcycles. "Lars' artwork thing — that's tough for me to watch, but that's him," James said. "I got nothing to do with that. He's probably sitting there saying the same thing about me and my silly helmet and the (motorcycle) T-bucket, going, 'Oh my God, that's so embarrassing,' you know? But we know we've got our own lifestyles, and that's it, man."

METALLICA's North American headlining tour is scheduled to resume on September 21 in Cleveland.
