METALLICA's 'Black' CD No. 3 Album Of Soundscan Era

METALLICA's self-titled "Black" album is the No. 3 album of the Soundscan era, according to the service's parent company, Nielsen.

Soundscan has been tracking album sales since 1991 and SHANIA TWAIN's 1997 release, "Come On Over", reigns on top, selling 14.4 million-plus copies, with ALANIS MORISSETTE's 1995 debut, "Jagged Little Pill", at Number Two with more than 14 million sold.

METALLICA's self-titled album from 1991 has sold more than 13 million units since its release. Number Four belongs to the BACKSTREET BOYS' 1999 "Millennium", topping 13 million units, while Number Five is the 1992 soundtrack from WHITNEY HOUSTON's film, "The Bodyguard", with 11.7 million in sales.
