METALLICA's HAMMETT On Possibility Of U.S. 'Big Four' Tour: 'Never Say Never'

BackstageAxxess.com caught up with METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett at Jeff Beck's June 9, 2010 tribute concert to Les Paul at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York. Watch the chat below.

While METALLICA takes some time off this summer, Hammett plans to write his first book, called "Too Much Horror Business". Hammett told RollingStone.com that the book will be all about his favorite genre, saying, "Horror movie posters, toys, artwork, comic books, the whole thing. It's something I've been into ever since I can remember. I remember finding my first monster magazine in San Francisco when I was six years old."

Hammett is famous for his collection of horror memorabilia, and has been known to occasionally auction off rarities like the only known lobby card for the lost 1927 Lon Chaney film "London After Midnight" and a Swedish poster for the 1933 "King Kong".

He said his favorite horror movie is either 1932's "The Mummy" or 1935's "The Bride Of Frankenstein", adding, "I'm an old school guy, you know, a big Boris Karloff fan. If you want to bring it up to present times, I really love "The Evil Dead" and "Re-Animator". I'm still waiting to see "The Human Centipede"! I can't wait!"

Hammett says the book will come out next year and will be "quirky Kirk Hammett — not too serious, but not too goofy, either."

METALLICA started a short run of European dates last week as part of the "Big Four" tour — featuring METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX all sharing the stage for the first time. The June 22 show was simulcast to U.S. movie theatres.
