METALLICA's HETFIELD Responds To 'Midlife Crisis' Accusations; Video Available

September 12, 2008

METALLICA guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield was interviewed yesterday (Thursday, September 11) by Norway's VG TV about the band's long-awaited new album, "Death Magnetic", which hits stores today. Watch the seven-minute chat below.

Asked for his opinion on a recent review of "Death Magnetic" which called the album a "midlife crisis," Hetfield replied, "I don't know. Whatever. If that's what they think, OK. I think the older we get, the less we worry about, maybe, public perception or what people think of you. There's always gonna be people that are gonna take shots, and that's fine. We're a big target. [Laughs] And have been for a long time. I think our honesty is a pretty good shield. We blame it on honesty. This is us — this is who it is."

METALLICA's official web site is currently streaming all 10 songs from "Death Magnetic". Six of the tracks were premiered during last week's "Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic", hosted by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins and broadcast live from METALLICA's headquarters in San Rafael, California.
