METALLICA To Be Honored With GOVERNORS AWARD

February 7, 2004

METALLICA will be honored with the 2004 Governors Award for creative excellence and outstanding achievement by the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy along with Mickey Hart and Chanticleer. The 2004 Governors Awards gala — the Chapter's largest fundraiser of the year — will be held on Monday, March 15, 2004 from 6:30 - 11 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the historic Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco's Union Square. The evening will include a cocktail reception, silent auction, formal dinner and awards presentation, which will pay tribute to the honorees with VIP presenters and special performances. (METALLICA will NOT be performing)

In addition to recognizing the achievements of these leaders of the local music community, the celebration will also commemorate the 30th anniversary of the San Francisco Chapter. All proceeds from this event will benefit the San Francisco Chapter Education and Scholarship Fund, and will endow the Recording Academy's educational and professional development programs for the local music community. Sponsorship package and ticket information can be obtained by contacting the San Francisco Chapter office at (415) 749-0779 or via e-mail at [email protected].
