METALLICA To Perform In China For First Time

June 5, 2013

METALLICA will perform in China for the first time on August 13 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai. Tickets go on sale on June 7 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Comments the band: "It is so rare for us to be able to say that we are visiting a country for the very first time, so this is an extra special announcement for us.

"After over 31 years of traveling to almost all corners of the world for so many amazing, wild and thrilling adventures, we will finally be heading to China!!"

METALLICA will host and headline the band's second annual Orion Music + More festival this coming weekend (Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9) on Belle Isle in Detroit.

The Pulse Of Radio asked James Hetfield about why the band switched the festival location from Atlantic City last year to Detroit now. "We always had a vision of it finding its home eventually somewhere. We thought Atlantic City was it, and we found that Detroit and Belle Island seems like a really, really great location right now. Easy to get into and whatnot, and obviously around the Lakes has been some very, very strong METALLICA family over the years."

In addition to METALLICA and fellow headliners the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, the bill includes RISE AGAINST, DEFTONES, SILVERSUN PICKUPS, THE JOY FORMIDABLE, DEAD SARA, ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, INFECTIOUS GROOVES and many more.
