MICHAEL SCHENKER: Limited-Edition Flame V Guitar Now Available

April 6, 2007

Dean Guitars has announced the release of the limited-edition, USA-made Michael Schenker Flame V guitar (photos). It's the exact guitar Schenker is currently playing on his Asian and European tour, and is a collectable piece for Schenker enthusiasts and collectors alike. This 2007 model is limited to only 100 pieces worldwide and enters the Dean lineup three years after the release of Schenker's first limited-edition model which sold out in four days — breaking all sales records for Dean.

"Other than Dime, Michael is the only artist to have multiple USA Signature models," said company founder Dean B. Zelinsky. "That's a powerful statement in its own right. His Vs are some of the finest instruments we've ever built."

The V body is symmetrically engulfed by contrasted black and white flames mirrored down the middle of the body and headstock in pure Schenker fashion. The guitar touts an ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlay, seven-ply body and headstock binding, a solid mahogany body and neck, and dual special wound Michael Schenker Signature humbuckers. These nearly 17-ohm, ultra-powerful pickups achieve the raw bluesy rock sound which is the basis of Schenker's legendary tone.

Each of these 100 guitars will be hand-signed and numbered by Schenker and comes complete with a letter of authenticity. A custom black-and-white Schenker hard-shell case is also included. Retail price is $5,808.

Schenker began endorsing Dean in 2004. Since then Dean has produced other Schenker models, including several acoustic models and the $8,000, limited-edition Schenker Brothers Signature V, which featured an engraved graphic of Michael with his brother Rudolf, legendary guitarist of the SCORPIONS.
