MISERY INC., Ex-GREEN CARNATION Members Comment On Upcoming VERTIGO STEPS Debut

July 18, 2008

Norwegian singer and musician Stein Roger Sordal (former bass player/singer for GREEN CARNATION and SOXPAN, now with his SORDAL solo project) and Finnish singer Niko Mankinen (lead vocalist for MISERY INC.) have commented on their participation in the upcoming debut album from the Portuguese metal act VERTIGO STEPS, the ambitious offspring of Bruno A (ARCANE WISDOM, UNDERSTREAM, REDSTAINS).

Mankinen, who is responsible for most of the vocals on the CD, stated: "It was a big challenge and an adventure for me to start working with VERTIGO STEPS compositions. With people I never had met before. People whose culture or mindset I did not know. When I started co-operating with Bruno, I came to realize how hard it is to get to know someone and his ambitions by emailing. By sending short samples of vocal melodies to Bruno, I tried to draw a picture what VERTIGO STEPS is all about and what kind of melodies and moods would the music need. But when it was time to start the recordings in Braga, we fortunately understood each other very well and we could focus on the work. When you listen to your work few months after recordings, there is always something you'd like to have done differently or things you could've done better, but you can't make changes endlessly especially when you're in studio. Still I'm quite pleased what we achieved. I have drawn my picture of VERTIGO STEPS and I'm glad I was part of this and I'm always available for VERTIGO STEPS."

Sordal, who appears on the track "Synapse (Sleepwalking Metaphorms)", said: "I got to know the VERTIGO STEPS project through myspace, and got the demo of the song from Bruno. I loved it straight away, as I heard that this was kind of up my alley. We managed to work online so to speak, him in Portugal (Lisbon),me in Norway (Kristiansand). Great thing that this is possible! Thank you, Bruno, for inviting me to be part of this record. Hope you enjoy it!"
