MNEMIC: Studio Report

June 21, 2006

MNEMIC guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie has posted the following studio report on the band's official blog:

"So here we are, we are taking the first steps towards the recording of this bastard. We entered Track Record Studios Monday morning, with Warren [Riker, DOWN, CATHEDRAL] and Christian [Olde Wolbers, FEAR FACTORY].

"The studio is pretty decent, with shitloads of gold records on the wall, makes you go like... nice. There are some really cool people working here, and the whole atmosphere is really relaxed and laid back.

"We had Ross The Drum Doc, [who] has worked on every rock star record you can imagine (according to Christian) come in and help us tune and fuck up the drumkit.

"Brian [Rasmussen, drums] tried out a few setups, a few snares and did a couple recordings to get a vibe of the drum sound. This time he is using a pretty weird cymbal (among the 72 others he is using),which I can't really describe the sound of. It's said that the cymbal is cut by 60,000 lbs of water pressure...whatever that means.

"This time we are going for a more analogue, more rough, dirty but still punchy sound. All in all just trying to do something different, and go towards something original, although that's something almost impossible these days — basically we're trying to incorporate and piece together the new MNEMIC sound, as we imagine and hear it in our minds.

"So far Brian has nailed five songs, and everything is going pretty smooth. Other than that we've had killer barbecues, with our own personal 'chef', aka Obeast, who's made sure to feed us fat, ugly and sloppy."

The current sessions mark the first time that MNEMIC have recorded in America and represent the second production project of Olde Wolbers for Nuclear Blast, as he recently turned the knobs for THREAT SIGNAL's debut "Under Reprisal" (due out August 22 in North America). He commented recently, "I'm honored to get the opportunity to work with MNEMIC, and I am actually a fan of the band."

The follow-up to 2004's "The Audio Injected Soul", MNEMIC's new album is due out in early 2007.
