MOKOMA To Release New EP In September

August 12, 2010

Finnish thrashers MOKOMA will release a new EP, "Juurta Jaksain", on September 1 via Sakara Records.

The track listing for the effort is as follows:

01. Ei Enää Askeltakaan
02. Maailmantappiin
03. Huomenhaamu
04. Musta Katras
05. Taakka
06. Sydänjuuret (acustic version)

Four of the EP's songs — "Ei Enää Askeltakaan", "Huomenhaamu", "Maailmantappiin" and "Taakka" — were recorded during the sessions for MOKOMA's latest album, "Sydänjuuret", which came out in March. According to the band, it became clear during the making of the full-length CD that not all the material would fit on the record and some tracks were set aside for future use.

The song "Musta Katras" was originally recorded for the album "Luihin Ja Ytimiin", which was released in 2007.

The "Juurta Jaksain" cover art by Ville Pirinen can be viewed below.

"Sydänjuuret" debuted at position No. 1 on the official Finnish chart and was certified gold within the first week of its release. The bandmembers were presented with their gold-album plaques for "Sydänjuuret" on June 18 at the Provinssirock festival in Finland.

"Sydänjuuret" was recorded at Sound Supreme studio in Hämeenlinna and was produced by Janne Saksa.

Formed in 1996, MOKOMA describes its music as a mixture of late '80s/early '90s thrash and death metal influences and melancholy elements from traditional Finnish music.

After releasing its first two albums through EMI, MOKOMA in 2003 founded its own record company, Sakara Records, which has served as the band's label home ever since.

MOKOMA is:

Marko Annala - Vocals
Tuomo Saikkonen - Guitar, Vocals
Janne Hyrkäs - Drums
Santtu Hämäläinen - Bass
Kuisma Aalto - Guitar, Vocals
