MONSTERS OF ROCK Festival Cancellation Explained

July 20, 2006

According to SofiaEcho.com, more information has been released regarding the cancellation of the Monsters of Rock festival, which was scheduled to take place August 3-7 at the Black Sea resort of Varna in Bulgaria. An announcement on the official web site of the festival says that due to changed terms and conditions, the festival cannot be carried out.

Varna mayor Kiril Yordanov modified the terms of the official authorities, which makes the event impossible, the web site said.

Only a SAXON and MOTÖRHEAD concert would take place in Varna on August 3, Avtora.com reported.

According to the official web site, one of the reasons for the cancellation was a ban on the consumption of alcoholic drinks that Varna municipality officials wanted to impose. Another unacceptable demand was a change in the closing time.

People who purchased tickets would receive a refund, the organizers said.

The 2007 edition of the Monsters of Rock festival is expected to take place in the coastal resort of Albena, according to the official information.
