MORBID ANGEL To Begin Mixing Next Week

June 19, 2003

Long-running death metallers MORBID ANGEL — guitarist Trey Azagthoth, bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker, and drummer Pete Sandoval — are almost done recording their new album, tentatively titled "H2K3", at D.O.W. (Diet Of Worms) studios in Seffner, Florida. "We are putting the final stuff on the record now," said the band's longtime front-of-house mixing engineer Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez, who is co-producing the record. "Trey was in [Tuesday] night doing rhythm guitars on the Marshalls and the devastation that is this record unfolded. Tucker comes in [Wednesday] to finish up bass and vocals. If everything stays on track we will be in mix in 5 days. That is if these lightning/thunderstorms don't keep us from working."

The follow-up to 2000's "Gateways To Annihilation" will be Tucker's third with the group, who recently rejoined the band after a two-year hiatus (he was temporarily replaced by HATE ETERNAL bassist/vocalist Jared Anderson). A September release through Earache Records is expected.
