MORGAN HARRINGTON Update: Clothing Found Near Skeletal Remains

January 27, 2010

Virginia State Police Col. Steve Flaherty made the announcement during a press conference held at the scene where forensic teams are "fairly confident" that skeletal remains found on a remote farm with no public access are those of Morgan Harrington, the 20-year-old Virginia Tech student who was last seen at a METALLICA concert in Charlottesville. The remains will be autopsied soon, and until then, police cannot say with "100 percent certainty that it is Miss Harrington," Flaherty said.

The remains have been moved from David Bass' Anchorage Farm to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond. Flaherty said that state police "cannot release the evidence that leads us to this conclusion at this particular time." However, Bass told C-Ville that "[t]here were some clothes" found near the remains.

Harrington was last seen in a black PANTERA t-shirt, a black miniskirt, black tights and black knee-high boots, along with a Swarovski necklace.
