Moscow Police Gear Up For METALLICA Concert

July 18, 2007

According to RIA Novosti, METALLICA's final concert of its Sick of the Studio '07 tour in Moscow on Wednesday (July 18) will be attended by some 60,000 fans and over 3,000 security officers.

METALLICA launched its tour in Lisbon June 28, and has already performed for Spanish, Belgian, Greek, Austrian, British, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish audiences.

Special headquarters have been established to coordinate security provisions by police, emergencies officers and doctors at the Luzhniki stadium. In addition, a mounted unit of some 70 policemen will be on patrol.

The band has visited Russia only once before, with a concert taking place at the peak of their fame, in 1991.

Established in 1981, METALLICA released its first album, "Kill 'Em All", in late 1983 and achieved "world domination" in 1986. METALLICA is now the seventh-biggest selling act in American history.
