MOTÖRHEAD's LEMMY Impressed By Manchester Mosaic Artist

November 23, 2007

Manchester Evening News reports: Heavy metal legend Lemmy may be no oil painting - but he reckons he's a great mosaic.

The MOTÖRHEAD frontman was so impressed by his portrait by a Manchester mosaic artist that he will hang it in his Hollywood home.

The head-banging rocker was presented with artist Ed Chapman's piece following his group's sell-out performance at the M.E.N. Arena.

Chapman, 33, of Castlefield, spent weeks using thousands of bits of ceramic tile to create the portrait.

He said: "Lemmy is regarded as one of the genuine legends in rock and roll. I also felt that his face would make a very interesting portrait and I am very pleased with the result. I've also approached the National Portrait Gallery with a view to it going on exhibition there and Lemmy said that he will happily loan it to them if it is accepted."
