MTLEY CRE's 'Saints Of Los Angeles' Headed For U.S. Top 5 Debut
June 25, 2008According to Hits Daily Double (the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS),MTLEY CRE's new album, "Saints of Los Angeles", is poised to sell around 90,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release for a likely Top 4 debut on The Billboard 200 chart.
This week's #1 album, COLDPLAY's "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" will spend yet another week at the top of the sales chart, followed by Cash Money/Universal Republic rap icon LIL WAYNE's blockbuster "Tha Carter III" and Disney's "Camp Rock" soundtrack, featuring the JONAS BROTHERS.
"Saints of Los Angeles" is MTLEY CRE's first studio album since 2000's "New Tattoo", which has sold a little over 200,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band's last studio effort with all of its original members was 1997's "Generation Swine", which debuted and peaked at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, and has sold more than 300,000 units.
"Saints of Los Angeles" is loosely based on the band's memoir, "The Dirt", which was published in 2001.
MTLEY CRE performed the title track of its new album, "Saints of Los Angeles", on last night's (Tuesday, June 24) edition of CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman". Check out video footage below.

MTLEY CRE played its first show in a year Sunday night (June 22) when it headlined the second day of the Heavy MTL festival in front of 22,500 fans at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
"Cre Fest" will kick off on July 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida, hitting 40 cities before wrapping up in late August.
MTLEY CRE's most recent tour in 2005/2006 grossed $46.3 million and drew more than 960,000 people to 125 concerts, according to Billboard Boxscore.
