MUDVAYNE Singer Finds 'Different Outlet' In HELLYEAH
April 9, 2007Launch Radio Networks reports: MUDVAYNE frontman Chad Gray displays a slightly different style of singing on the self-titled debut from HELLYEAH, which comes out on Tuesday (April 10). Gray was one of the architects of the heavy rock supergroup, which also features members of PANTERA and NOTHINGFACE, and told Launch why he wanted to put it together in the first place. "I don't know, I think I always wanted another outlet besides MUDVAYNE," he said. "MUDVAYNE's pretty intricate, it's pretty technical, and there's, like, a lot of themes, and I just wanted to do a band that was all screaming and yelling and basically no singing — a band that I could really have fun on tour with. So I was just thinking, 'You know, we should just be insanely extreme and come out and just crush everything and have fun.'"
In addition to Gray, HELLYEAH also features MUDVAYNE guitarist Greg Tribbett, NOTHINGFACE guitarist Tom Maxwell and bassist Jerry Montano, and former PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul.
HELLYEAH posted a new video online last week for "You Wouldn't Know", the first single from the band's debut disc. The clip was shot in the parking lot of the Dallas, Texas recording studio owned by Vinnie Paul.
HELLYEAH will perform on this summer's Family Values tour, along with KORN, EVANESCENCE, FLYLEAF and others. The trek begins on July 20 in St. Louis.
