MYLES KENNEDY Says 'There Aren't A Lot Of Epic Journeys' On SLASH's New Album, 'Living The Dream'

June 21, 2018

SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS will release a new album titled "Living The Dream" on September 21 via Slash's own label, Snakepit Records, in partnership with Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2014's "World On Fire" is Slash's fourth solo album, and third with his band THE CONSPIRATORS, which features Myles Kennedy on vocals, Brent Fitz on drums, Todd Kerns on bass and Frank Sidoris on guitar.

Asked by "The Classic Metal Show" if "Living The Dream" is musically similar to the last Slash disc, Myles said (hear audio below): "Yeah, it definitely has those sonic hallmarks, I think, that started to evolve on 'Apocalyptic Love' [2012]. It's 12 songs, and there aren't a lot of epic journeys. We had more of the epic side of things on the 'World Of Fire' record; these are very concise, and there's an uptempo quality to a lot of the tracks that I think bode well for this band. So, yeah, we're excited to put it out there and do some touring on it. It should be fun."

SLASH FT. MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS will support the collection by embarking on a fall tour of the U.S. and Canada, beginning on September 13 in Los Angeles and running as of now through October 14 at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California. Myles told "The Classic Metal Show" that he is "sure there'll be more" shows to come after the fall tour. "It's still in the works," he said. "They're trying to get all that stuff sorted out for next year. There are just a lot of moving parts — ALTER BRIDGE is reconvening next year, and we'll see what happens with the GN'R camp. So there's a lot of things to juggle, but they'll make something happen."

After Slash and the CONSPIRATORS toured "World On Fire", rumors about the long-awaited GUNS N' ROSES reunion tour began to circulate and were confirmed in early 2016.

The current GUNS trek — which features Slash and fellow original members Axl Rose and Duff McKagan — launched in April 2016 and has since grossed close to $500 million, with more dates coming this summer and fall.

Asked if there was ever a point where he wondered if Slash would ever return to making music and touring with THE CONSPIRATORS, Kennedy told "The Classic Metal Show": "I wasn't sure, to be honest. I knew he loved making music in this context, but, obviously, that thing's [referring to the GN'R tour] been so successful to where he was… People would always ask me during interviews, 'So what's gonna happen with SMKC?' And it just got to the point where I would say, 'Time will tell. Anything is possible.' But, obviously, with the success of that machine, it was just impossible to know what was gonna come about as far as the future for this band. So somehow we managed to get another record in."

For "Living The Dream", Slash and his band re-teamed with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (ALTER BRIDGE, IGGY POP, INCUBUS).

Kennedy's debut solo album, "Year Of The Tiger", was released on March 9 via Napalm Records.
