NECROPHAGIST, ORIGIN, DARKEST HOUR, DYING FETUS Confirmed For Michigan's DIRT FEST

May 4, 2009

Dirt Fest, Michigan's premier independent outdoor music festival, will celebrate 13 years of metal and alternative music mayhem on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Birch Run Expo Center in Birch Run.

The 13th annual Dirt Fest boasts an impressive lineup of well known hard rock, metal, alternative, and punk acts as well as a plethora of cutting edge bands. Headlining this year's Dirt Fest is German technical metal band NECROPHAGIST, who brings 2009 Summer Slaughter tourmates ORIGIN, DARKEST HOUR, DYING FETUS, BORN OF OSIRIS, WINDS OF PLAGUE and more to what has become Michigan's largest and longest-running metal and alternative festival. FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS, AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, THE MESSENGER and KILL PARADISE and other national bands that are expected to appear.

Dirt Fest has grown from a small, regional outdoor music event to Michigan's "must -see" annual music festival featuring a diverse lineup of the biggest up-and-coming alternative, electronic and indie acts from all over the world. Drawing crowds from all over the Midwest and Canada, Dirt Fest has quickly become the staple outdoor music festival that has served as a significant launching pad for many band's careers.

"This may be Dirt Fest's biggest year yet," says Dirt Fest organizer Matt Dalton. "With a long-awaited NECROPHAGIST album this summer, the popularity of the Summer Slaughter tours in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia and with the success of some of the alternative acts, interest in this festival has captured the interest of the most dedicated heavy metal fans and scene kids from across the region."

Dirt Fest 13 will also feature up to 50 hand-picked local and regional acts to play the festival. Added attractions, extreme sports and music demonstrations, eclectic vendors and contests will round out the Dirt Fest 13 experience.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $29 day-of-show and are available from DirtFest.com as well as various retail outlets across Michigan. Dirt Fest 13 is an all-ages show.
