NEVERMORE Bassist's Absence From EVOLUTION FESTIVAL Explained
June 27, 2007NEVERMORE bassist Jim Sheppard will be forced to miss the band's July 7 appearance at the Evolution Festival in Firenze, Italy due to scheduling conflicts. Replacing him at the gig will be ARMORED SAINT/FATES WARNING bassist Joey Vera.
Commented NEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane: "Jim's not dying, Jim is fine, he just has some things he needs to take care of during that week. He will play all the other scheduled festival dates. And it will be pretty cool to jam onstage with Joey. Glad he's able to do that!"
Jim Sheppard last year missed a number of NEVERMORE shows after undergoing a minor procedure for Crohn's Disease, a condition he's managed for over 15 years. Filling in for Sheppard was longtime friend James MacDonough (ex-MEGADETH, ICED EARTH).
NEVERMORE has begun the songwriting process for the follow-up to 2005's "This Godless Endeavor", tentatively due next year via Century Media Records. "Jeff [Loomis, NEVERMORE guitarist] just gave me a new song to work on and it fucking crushes!" says Dane. "Since all [the songs for my upcoming solo album] have been pretty much finished for some time, I'm working hard on the new NEVERMORE stuff, and man, Jeff is kicking some major ass!"
