New BUSH Album, 'The Mind Plays Tricks On You', To Arrive In March Or April

BUSH frontman Gavin Rossdalespoke toMeltdown of the WRIF radio station about the band's next studio album, "The Mind Plays Tricks On You", which is tentatively due in early 2020. The disc was recently recorded at a Los Angeles studio with film composer Tyler Bates, who has previously worked with Marilyn Manson.

Asked when "The Mind Plays Tricks On You" will finally be released, Rossdale said: "Well, it was gonna be… I got in a lot of trouble for November the 1st. And now it's been moved to the beginning of [next] year — I think March or April. Which really makes no difference — it's a couple of months. As long as we keep the momentum, and if there's a new song — I hope there's a new song coming to radio if [the recently released single] 'Bullet Holes' [which is featured in the film 'John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum'] starts to slide down the pole. I hope there's another one coming."

Gavin also talked about his decision to reveal the title of the next BUSH album months before its projected release date.

"What I believe about things like titles and 'The Mind Plays Tricks On You' is that you wanna seep into people's subconscious," he said. "It's like subliminal. It's not like a baby or something where people get annoyed that it takes so long once they've heard about it. It's like it just seeps into people's imagination."

In a recent interview with Australia's Heavy , Rossdale elaborated on his comment that performing at various hard rock and heavy metal festivals in the last couple of years has influenced the musical direction of the new BUSH material.

"I think to the point of where listening to a lot heavier music and just really enjoying the music…. The singing and stuff, I like a lot of it, but just the feel, just the heaviness of it is what I enjoy," he explained. "The last record, 'Black And White Rainbows', had kind of a bruised genesis, and this has a slightly more aggressive approach. But aggressive — my version of aggression is not like head butting; it's just deep and powerful."

BUSH just completed "The Alt-Imate Tour", a co-headline summer run with LIVE. The trek saw BUSH and LIVE celebrating the 25th anniversary of their respective landmark albums "Sixteen Stone" and "Throwing Copper".

BUSH's latest effort, 2017's "Black And White Rainbows", was crafted after the frontman went through a divorce with pop star/reality TV judge Gwen Stefani in 2015.

BUSH's current lineup also includes guitarist Chris Traynor and bassist Corey Britz.

The group, which broke up in 2002 but reunited in 2010, has released three albums since reforming.
