New ENTOMBED Bassist Is 'Proud And Amazed' To Be Playing With One Of His 'Favorite' Bands

September 10, 2010

Bassist Victor Brandt (TOTALT JÄVLA MÖRKER, AEON, SATYRICON) has commented on his recent addition to the long-running Swedish metal band ENTOMBED.

"I am so proud and amazed," Victor tells the Warwick.de web site.

"I've been listening to ENTOMBED for a lot of years. It's actually one of my favorite bands.

"It's so cool and awesome to be on stage playing ENTOMBED songs, with ENTOMBED!"

Born in 1983, Brandt wasn't from a particularly musical family, but he does remember his mother playing the piano and his father listening to jazz. At the age of 11, he started playing guitar and bass and found out that death metal was his favorite genre of music. When he was 12 years old, he stood on stage for the time: "I played BLACK SABBATH's 'Paranoid' and I couldn't have been more nervous," he recalls. "It went OK, but not brilliant, so I was devastated. I almost thought about quitting, but instead, I started to practice even more."

Brandt plays with a pick and distortion and compares his sound to that of a rusty tractor. He plays Warwick because "they're known for being one of the finest basses. I have always wanted one but couldn't afford it until now," he says. "I borrowed Warwicks in the past and loved them. I dreamed about being a Warwick endorser and now I finally am. It's mind-blowing."

ENTOMBED's former bassist Nico Elgstrand is now playing second guitar for the band.

ENTOMBED performed as a five-piece for the first time in years on October 17, 2009 at Arenan in Stockholm, Sweden, with Elgstrand playing second guitar for this one gig only. Handling the bass duties for the Stockholm show and the rest of ENTOMBED's tour with AMON AMARTH was Brandt, who was filling in temporarily while Elgstrand took some time off to focus on other affairs.

ENTOMBED's latest album, "Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments", was released in the U.S. on July 31, 2007 via Candlelight/Threeman Recordings. The 10-song effort marked the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (ALPHA SAFARI, ex-MISERY LOVES CO.),who replaced Peter Stjärnvind in 2006. Mastering duties were handled by Soren Elofsson at Cosmos Mastering in Stockholm, Sweden.

"Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments" entered the Swedish national chart at position No. 3. This was the highest chart position in the band's career.
