New Jersey's SAPREMIA Signs With OPEN GRAVE RECORDS

March 17, 2007

Recently resurrected New Jersey death metal fiends SAPREMIA have inked a two-album deal with Open Grave Records. The group's first release for Open Grave will be a split CD with labelmates EXTERMINANCE in August of 2007, followed by a brand new full-length in late 2007/early 2008.

SAPREMIA was born in the early 1990s as a five-piece. After many lineup changes, the mainstay worked out being a four-piece unit with dual lead vocals. This lineup (Lou Ferrara on bass/vocals, Jay Lipitz on guitar/vocals, Brian Rulli on guitar, Dave Knauer on drums) was constant through two successful demo releases, "Subconscious Rot" in 1992 and "Existence of Torture" in 1994. Shortly after "Existence" was launched, Jay left for greener pastures and SAPREMIA stayed active in the scene for another year or so as a three-piece. Now, 10 years later, the lineup features Lou Ferrara (bass/vocals),Brian Valenti (guitar),and Brian Rulli (guitar) and Ryan Hill (drums).

Since its return in 2006 SAPREMIA remastered its original demos and released it under the title "Subconscious Existence". The band has also played shows all over the East Coast.
