New JIMI HENDRIX Collection Features Historic 1968 Gigs

June 18, 2009

According to The Pulse of Radio, a new Jimi Hendrix "fan pack" is set for release on August 11 from Dagger Records, the official "bootleg" label created by Experience Hendrix. The package includes the disc THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE "Live 1968 Paris/Ottawa" which features selections from Hendrix's January 29, 1968 show at the city's L 'Olympia Theater which was officially recorded by RTE, the national French broadcasting company. Hendrix himself recorded the March 29 show at Ottawa's Capitol Theatre.

The collection features blistering takes of such EXPERIENCE classics as "Purple Haze", "The Wind Cries Mary", "Little Wing", "Stone Free", "Hey Joe", along with a cover of THE TROGGS' "Wild Thing".

Janie Hendrix, the president and CEO of Experience Hendrix LLC, said, "The concept behind this 'fan pack' is to throw a spotlight on Jimi as a live performer and give a glimmer of what it might have been like to encounter 'THE EXPERIENCE' when Jimi had the band at its peak... This release highlights Dagger's role in serving fans who want all Jimi had to offer and can't get enough of his legacy and genius."

Among the materials specifically created for the new package are a "Jimi" poster, a postcard set replicating classic Hendrix concert posters, a Hendrix iPod Skin, four guitar picks adorned with Hendrix artwork from the concert posters, and an "all-access" laminated pass with an exclusive, secret code designed to unlock special Hendrix content online.
