New THE GATHERING Singer Says Fan Response Has Gone 'Beyond Expectations'
August 26, 2009THE GATHERING's new singer, Silje Wergeland, who was previously in the Norwegian band OCTAVIA SPERATI, has issued the following update:
"It has been such great and hectic spring and summer for us. Looking back, we feel we have done some amazing things together. What an adventure! Who would have thought this one year ago, in April, when Hans [Rutten, drums] wrote me the very first email... We were, of course, hoping it all would go well with the announcement of me as the new singer, the new album and the live shows, but looking back now... it went beyond expectations, really.
"You guys embracing the album and the new lineup have been so wonderful. Thanks so much for all the positive support and nice comments you've given us!
"I am writing this now as we will have a little break before we go back on the road again in October. We will, of course, continue working on several things for the next gigs, new material, maybe some new 'old' songs, new videos, etc., but we will also take some time off working independently on things and go on holiday to charge the batteries before autumn fully kicks in!"

THE GATHERING's new album, "The West Pole", was released in North America on June 2 via Season of Mist. The CD was issued in most of Europe on May 4 via the band's own label, Psychonaut Records. More information is available here.
"The West Pole" marks the recording debut of Wergeland. It also includes two very talented guest singers, Anne van den Hoogen and Marcela Bovio (STREAM OF PASSION),along with other guest musicians.
Singer Anneke van Giersbergen announced her departure from THE GATHERING in 2007. She has since launched a project called AGUA DE ANNIQUE, which released an album called "Air" in October 2007.
